How do Fortune’s Weave class tiers work?

Public Direct materials split jobs into three tiers. Everyone starts in a Beginner foundation role; Specialty narrows tools; Advanced is the late mastery layer.

TierPublic sizeJob of the tier
Beginner5 classesFoundational combat roles
SpecialtyOver 10 classesSpecific abilities and narrower kits
AdvancedMasters of their skillsLate power combinations (mobility + armor, white magic + spears, giant mounts, etc.)

Weapon locks from public materials

A unit’s abilities, weapons, and movement range change with the class — and public Direct coverage says Fortune’s Weave gates weapon types (often contrasted with freer Three Houses access). Buying a dream loadout before the exam is a calendar waste.

Named examples live in the next three sections. Treat anything outside that list as TBA until launch verification.

Which Beginner classes are confirmed?

Nintendo confirms five Beginner classes and names three in Direct coverage. Use them as the foundation sheet — do not invent the missing two or fake growth tables. Secondary digests sometimes float other beginner labels; treat those as unverified until localization locks.

Start wide, certify narrow

Beginner jobs teach weapon families and map movement. Specialty is where kits get specific — so your first Free Time training should point at one Specialty example you actually want.

What do Specialty classes add?

Specialty is the mid tier with over ten classes. Public materials name three standouts with clear battlefield jobs.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Charioteer striking along a straight battle line
ClassPublic abilityWhy it matters
Armored KnightIronclad defenseFront-line hold when enemy phases get heavy
Wing SoldierLeap obstacles · cover long distancesBypass terrain that ground units cannot
CharioteerStrike multiple enemies in a straight lineLine clears when foes stack on a road or corridor
Other Specialty jobs10+ total — names TBAWait for launch lists before “best Specialty” rankings

Line tools vs armor tools

Charioteer rewards straight-line positioning. Armored Knight rewards accepting slower move for defense. Wing Soldier rewards maps with cliffs and buildings. Pick the map problem you keep losing to.

Advanced sits above Specialty as the mastery layer — not day-one homework.

When do Advanced classes matter?

Advanced classes are described as masters of their skills. Public materials name three examples; full trees and rank thresholds wait for launch.

ClassPublic kitPlanning note
CataphractHorse mobility + heavy armorLate cavalry tank fantasy — do not rush the exam
GuardianWhite magic + spearsHybrid heal / poke mastery
Elephant RiderFight astride a giant mountHuge presence — treat as late showcase, not early grind

Do not invent promotion levels

Community breakdowns guess level gates. Until Nintendo publishes exact thresholds, plan Advanced as a late Free Time project after Specialty feels stable.

The gate between tiers is the Certification Exam — that is the next system to learn.

How do certification exams work?

Certification is the reclass path. You train, sit an exam with an examiner, and change class if you pass. Public materials stress that exams can fail when skills are short.

StepWhat you doCalendar note
1. Pick a target classOne Specialty or Advanced example from the tables aboveOne goal per Free Time block
2. Train in the ArenaRaise the skills / weapon ranks the exam checksTurns spent here beat Inn dumps
3. Sit the Certification ExamAttempt the exam when gates look readyFailure still spends schedule time
4. Reclass on successEquip the new job’s locked weaponsShop after the pass, not before
5. Revisit laterReclass again when a new tier opensDo not hoard every exam day one
  • Do01Name the target class out loud (one Specialty or Advanced example)
  • Do02Confirm the unit can eventually equip that job’s weapon family
  • Do03Spend Arena Turns on the exam skills — not every Inn option
  • Do04Sit the exam only when the skill gates look ready
  • Do05After a pass: buy / forge for the new locks, then fight a match to test the kit

Pair exams with combat understanding

Weapon locks change which Combat Arts and trades you can take. After a Specialty pass, re-read the combat guide so durability and Blaze spends match the new kit.

When you need a single scan sheet for “what should I train today?”, use the decision table next.

Which class path should I train toward?

Use this sheet during Free Time. Paths below are example fantasies from named public jobs — not a confirmed Beginner→Specialty→Advanced tree.

If you need…Example train toward (path TBA)Avoid for now

Calendar before prestige

A passed Specialty that matches your next Heroic Games map beats an Advanced name on a unit that failed the exam. Keep Dagsion hub Turns honest.
